Have you ever dropped the ball on something that you were working on or something that you wanted to do, something that you were working towards? It happens. It happens to all of us. It happened to be, it happened to me and my coaching business. I took my foot off the gas. I was showing up for my current clients, but I was not doing the work that I needed to do to market my business to get new clients into the pipeline. I was doing a lot of other things, but not that. And I wanna talk to you today about how to refocus and to get things done, get back to doing the things that you want and need to do or want to do, really. and next week I'll tell you about a plan that I have for the rest of the year. That I think will help you get things done, and I wanna invite you to join me on that plan, but I'll tell you about that next week. But today I wanna talk about how to get. You're focused back how to refocus and really get things done. So like I said, I had not been focusing really on my coaching business other than the current clients that I had. I was not focused on doing the work that I needed to get the new clients. I knew that I needed to, that I wanted to, but I was not doing the work. I would think about it, but I was not doing anything. and you might think, well, you weren't motivated, but I was. I was motivated. I wanted to do it, And that's what motivated means. It means having a strong desire or reason to do something. And I had that. I wanted to do it. I wanted to, but I wasn't doing anything about it. I wasn't taking any action. And action is the key. You have to do something. You have to do something. Hell even be witch. Had to wiggle her nose and I. Um, Jeanie had to nod her head, so you, there needs to be a mental and physical energy to make something happen, to get what you want. Motivation has the emotional energy behind it, the wanting, the desire, but you have to put in the work. You have to be able to translate that desire into action. so in my case, I decided one day to just sit down and do a post, just one post. That's all I was gonna do. Well, that led to an idea for an email, and I decided to do an email, and I began to pick up momentum. Those actions didn't motivate me. I was already motivated. I had the motivation, but that first action that I decided to take gave me momentum to keep going. and that momentum was fueled by three things, really. That desire that was there, that had been there. The action and the dopamine hit the reward of saying a good job. And I didn't actually say good job at the time, but sometimes I do. but I had that feeling of, oh good, that's done. You can check that off. and then I thought, well, maybe I'll send an email real quick. and that momentum continue to build to snowball and ideas popped in my head. One that I'll be sharing with you next week, and I kept going and every time I got something completed, I got something done. I got that little dopamine hit and I wanted to do the next thing. And I bet you've experienced this too. Have you ever. Been on a roll when you were doing something at work or completing a project or cleaning the house, and you're like, oh, I'm on a roll. I'm gonna keep going. That's that feeling, that's that momentum that I'm talking about. So that's where I am now, and it started with me deciding, being determined to do one thing, not to get back on the bandwagon, not to get my stuff together. Not to make 180 degree shift, but just to do one thing and the momentum built from there. So are you ready to do one thing? Are you ready to get your momentum going? It doesn't have to be huge. It doesn't have to get you to the finish line. It just has to get you started. So think about something that you've been wanting to do or accomplish or try or something that you need to finish. And I want you to think about the tasks that are involved, the steps that it's gonna take to get you there. And ask yourself these questions to help get you moving. First question, what is the, what is the next thing I need to do? The next logical step, the thing that has to be done before moving on to anything else. And then do that thing. If it feels overwhelming, figure out why it's overwhelming. Do you need help with it? Ask. Ask for help. Is it something that you don't really wanna do but you feel like you have to do it? Get honest with yourself. Why do you wanna do it? Why do you not want to do it? If there is any people pleasing in there, or if there are any shoulds in there, question them. Ask yourself why you're thinking and feeling that way, and maybe you'll find that it's something that you want to let go of completely, and then you can move on to something else that's more important. if there's something that feels big and daunting or like, it will take too much time. Figure out how to break it down into manageable chunks. Write out a plan, do the prep work. Start a timer for a specific amount of time, and don't let yourself get distracted by anything else. If there's not a logical next step for what you're looking to achieve, ask yourself these questions. What is the low hanging fruit? What would be the easiest, quickest thing to cross off the list and get that dopamine hit Or what is the thing that I'm dreading that will be a roadblock down the way? Get that out of the way and get that big dopamine hit. Ask yourself, when am I going to do it? If it's now, then get after it, do it. And don't let yourself get distracted by anything else until you're done. If it's soon, specify when. Put it on the calendar and make it non-negotiable. And when the time comes, make sure there are no distractions and work until you're finished with it. And finally, ask yourself. how will I feel when it's done or when it's over? And really try and feel the emotion that you'll feel when it's all said and done. And plan the reward or something to celebrate that win when it happens. Pat yourself on the back. Get that dopamine hit. You don't need motivation. You have it. You have the reason you want to do something. You have the desire. You have to decide to turn that into action, and you only need to focus on the next action, the one thing that you're going to do. And when that is done and you've celebrated yourself, then you can turn your focus to the next thing. So that's what I have for you today, but I want you to come back next week because like I said, I have a challenge for you that I think will nudge you into action. In the meantime, if you have any questions or if you want to talk about this, come over to Instagram. I'm at Coach Temetria on Instagram, and let's talk about it. Until next time.
